What's For Supper? (“we”, “us”) is a South African meal planning service. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Account info — your email and password (hashed), and any preferences you set during onboarding (household size, budget, dietary needs).
- Kitchen and plan data — the pantry items you add, plans you generate, and shopping lists you create. Stored so you can come back to them.
- Photos — pantry/fridge photos and till slip photos are sent to our processing service, identified or extracted, and then permanently discarded. We never write them to disk or storage. Only the structured result (item names, categories, prices) is saved against your kitchen or receipt records.
- Payment info— none collected during early access. When a paid plan launches we’ll process payments through a regulated South African payment provider; we will never see or store raw card details ourselves.
How we use it
- To generate your weekly supper plans and shopping lists.
- To improve our recipes, ingredient pricing data, and AI prompts — always on aggregated, de-identified data.
- To send transactional emails about your plans and account.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data. Ever.
- We don't advertise to you, and we don't share your kitchen or plan data with third parties for marketing.
Data location
Account and plan data is held on secure managed cloud servers in the EU region. Some AI processing for plan generation may take place outside South Africa under the relevant POPIA conditions for cross-border processing; only the prompt content (your preferences, kitchen items) is sent — never your email or account ID.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data. Email us at hello@supperhero.co.za and we'll respond within 7 days.
